Hawaii Days 1 & 2

We just returned from an absolutely amazing trip with my Mom, Phil, Anna, and Faith to Hawaii!! My Mom and Phil have wanted to take us forever and this summer we were finally able to go! Everyone agreed that it was one of the very best vacations, ever. :-)

I'm excited to recap our trip, right after we've returned, to store as many memories as possible! Maybe it will help with my vacation blues and jet lag too ;-)

DAY 1:

We spent the night at Mom and Phil's house on Thursday night and we woke up at 4:30am to get to the airport to catch our 7:45am flight. We only had one layover on the way out in Salt Lake City, so after a 4 hr and 6.5 hr flight, we arrived in Hawaii at 2:30 HST!! We were all so excited, I don't think any of us slept much on the planes and we had energy to burn.

We thought we'd hit the ground running after we checked-in to our condo, however that wasn't quite the case. We rented a condo in the BEAUTIFUL resort of Ko'Olina on Oahu from HomeAway. When we got to the condo and called our property manager to get the codes to open the door… she didn't answer her phone. This went on for over an hr so we decided to go out to eat at the resort, Monkeypods which was delicious! Once we finished eating it was already 8:30. We still hadn't heard from the lady and we were getting fed up. After many resort phone calls, talks with HomeAway, and a drive to Honolulu and back (thinking we'd have to stay in a hotel), we FINALLY got the code to the condo and we were in about 10:00pm. Needless to say, we all crashed.

DAY 2:

We decided Saturday should be a low-key day of recuperating and settling in. Since we were 6 hours behind EST, Andy and I woke up super early (6am!) and we couldn't get back to sleep. Andy studied while I read my new book and we waited for everyone to wake up. Once we had breakfast, we took a bike ride down to one of the lagoons. We were SO excited for our beach day to begin!!

After a trip to Target, Costco, and Walmart we had our essentials for the week and we were ready to hit the beach! We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach until sunset and we finished the day with pizza at the condo.

We transitioned to island life very quickly :-)
