Memorial Weekend!

I'm finally sitting down and updating my blog on June 29th. However, these next few blogs will still be dated at an appropriate time because it must be organized ;-)

Memorial Day weekend was SO fun and refreshing. We had finally gotten over our never ending sickness and we spent the weekend seeing (almost) all of my family.

We drove to Salemburg Friday, and we spent the night at my Grandaddy's. The next day, we had a reunion, of sorts, with Phil's family. We don't get to see them nearly enough, so it was nice to catch-up with everyone!

We were sad that my cousin Evan and his wife Ashlee were not at the reunion, especially since it was Memorial Day and he is currently serving our country in Japan. We wanted to make signs for them to send our love :-)

That afternoon, we hit the road again to head to Myrtle Beach to see my Nana, Papa, and Aunt Darlene! A storm was rolling in, but that didn't stop us from having a good night and enjoying a golf cart ride!

& for memories sake… I have to note that it was shortly after this picture that I realized I didn't have my phone. I thought I had left it at the condo but I was also SURE I had brought it with us on the golf cart. Then a crazy search ensued. If you're wondering, the "find my iPhone" app is on POINT!  We got back to the condo and it kept saying that my phone was 150 ft. from where we were, so we basically turned the condo upside down looking for it. We finally called it a night and said we'd continue looking in the morning. When I woke up, I decided to follow the little blue dot on Andy's phone to EXACTLY where it said the phone was, so I started walking down the road towards the condo offices. Sure enough, whena I was right over the "phone dot" my phone was sitting at the door step of the offices. Some one had found it (probably in the road!!) and dropped it off. Praise the Lord. & remember how it stormed? My phone was fine too! What we won't do for our precious iPhones :-)

After the phone was found, the clouds parted and it ended up being a beautiful day!!! We spent the rest of the day at the beach and it was wonderful.

Papa really wanted Red Lobster, so we went there to celebrate his birthday!

Serious talk in the car ;-)

Before leaving on Monday, we spent some time at the Outlets with Nana and Aunt Da. Afterwards, we had a long trek back to WV.

It was a perfect weekend to (almost) kick start our summer!! Only a week and a half left of school!

Charlotte Girls Weekend

Andy and I are in town this weekend, but I wanted to remember what a fun girls weekend I had at home, in Charlotte, last week!

We were supposed to go to Charlotte for Mother's Day and my Dad's birthday the first weekend of May. But then sickness took over and we decided not to go. Since Andy had a golf tournament planned the next weekend with his dad and brothers, I decided to go home. It just so happened that Phil and my dad were both out of town too! So, it really was a true girls' weekend.

Friday night, I got to Charlotte in time to head to The Beach Festival in downtown Matthews with my mom and Anna. They had food trucks, carnival, rides, and beach music!! We got to see the Tams perform and they did not disappoint. I'm pretty sure the lead singer is my spirit animal (INSANE dance moves).

Saturday morning we went to Anna's softball game and then we had Mexican for lunch. We all decided to take a nap after lunch before heading back out that night :-)

Once everyone got ready, we went uptown and had dinner at Rock Bottom. After we were finished, we decided to walk around and, of course, stop by our wedding venue.

… it just so happened that we ran into my cousin Matt and his wife Alex in front of the City Club. We ran over to see them only to find out they were actually IN a wedding in the city club!!! So, we got to go up and crash the wedding for a few minutes! I was giddy to get to go back up to our venue. Only the BEST memories are stored there :-)

We ended the weekend going to church on Sunday and having Acropolis for lunch. There aren't any other girls I'd want to spend my weekend with!! It was so fun and I can't wait until we can do it again

Just Plain Sick

The only word that comes to my mind when I think of this spring is SICK.

I've already mentioned that I caught a nasty respiratory infection over Easter break. Well, not even 5 weeks later, I got another sinus/respiratory infection combination. I have no idea if this spring is so bad for me because of working in the schools or because of my allergies in a new environment. Whatever it is though has been rough!

Unfortunately, Andy caught the crud this second time around as well. We have now both been on antibiotics, and I started a steroid this week. We've been quite the sickly pair Ha ha Thankfully, we have received so many sweet prayers, cards, and thoughts the past couple of weeks. Just tonight, our next door neighbor brought us over hot stew and cornbread. I was so humbled by just how thoughtful that was!!

So, we haven't exactly been enjoying the spring and summer weather quite yet. I'm praying we can kick this crud to the curb soon, for good, though.

Here's to the home stretch before school's out for summer!

Mindy + Marc {4.30.16}

This past weekend, we celebrated the marriage of one of our most favorite couples!!! Mindy & Marc are both so special to us and everything was beautiful. I am SO excited for them to start this journey together.

We headed out of town Thursday night.
