Boone Getaway

This past weekend we chased a beautiful sunset to Boone, NC to meet up with my family for a little getwaway :-)

The cabin was SO cozy and we were excited for a relaxing weekend.

The next morning we enjoyed our breakfast outside and I checked out the gorgeous views since we got in after dark the night before.

The cabin was so charming!

In the early afternoon, we decided to go over to Grandfather Mountain. In all my years in Boone, I never went! We popped in an informational CD and climbed up the mountain in the car. I don't know why but I didn't realize how steep the drive would be!

The following pictures at the top of the mountain are all out of order. But the big picture is that it was breath taking up there! :-)

I chickened out of walking across the bridge :-( I found out that my dad didn't cross either when he visited a long time ago. I thought that was funny ha ha

We stopped to see the animals on our way back down and it was so cool to see a black bear! He was my favorite.

After Grandfather Mountain, we had dinner in downtown Banner Elk at Stone Walls. It was a super cute atmosphere. The food was good, but not quite as good as the atmosphere ha!

After dinner, on the way back to our cabin, we spotted a buck right beside our road!! Too bad (for Andy) it's not hunting season yet ;-)

We cozied up around the fire and watched TV together that night.

On Sunday morning, we drove over to Boone to see Anna's sophomore dorm room and have brunch!

We wanted to go to Melanie's, but it was packed. We headed over to The Local instead and it didn't SEEM packed. Turned out to be a terrible idea. It took at least 30 minutes to order and then over an HOUR until we got our food. We were all absolutely starving by the time our food actually came. Note to self: don't attempt to get food in Boone on homecoming weekend.

We said our goodbyes after brunch and as always we were happy to see our girl when we got home :-)

What a fun NC mountain getaway!!!

Allie + Brad

We kicked-off our Fall travel with my cousin Allie's wedding in Kinston, NC.

We stayed at the neatest motel that was remodeled in downtown Kinston near the now-famous Chef & the Farmer restaurant.  We arrived super late on Friday night.

They had a fun pool area, so I got in the pool for a while before it was time to get ready for the wedding!

The wedding space was decorated so cute, therefore I took a million pictures Ha ha

It was sooo nice to see all of my family on Phil's side. We don't see them nearly enough!! The most exciting thing was to see my cousin Evan and meet his wife and little boy. They have been stationed in Okinawa, Japan the last 3 years. It was so fun to see them!

Congratulations Allie and Brad!! We love you!
