Meet Luci

Andy and I are so excited to introduce our newest family member…

Luci

What a weekend we had!!!

I found out about the breeder who had Luci from my friend Grace, who was in my sorority. She posted a picture of her new puppy and he looked JUST like the type of dog Andy and I were looking for. We had discussed not getting a pup until the summer, so that I could be home to train her, but it just felt right when the breeder let me know that she had ONE girl left in her current litter.

Andy and I traveled down to Mocksville, NC to meet Luci on Friday night, March 31st. On the way to meet her we found out some absolutely wonderful news regarding Andy's job and we saw a rainbow. It was such a happy and exciting evening!
"The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his word, which he decreed long ago." Lamentations 2:17a

After about 5 minutes of spending time with "the last girl in the litter," Andy and I knew she had to be ours! We went ahead and bought her and promised to come back and get her on Sunday at noon. That way, she could go home to our house first.

We spent the rest of the weekend in Charlotte. Most of my family happened to be out of town - Mom, Phil, and the girls were at my Grandaddy's and my Dad was in Greensboro with his basketball team. We crashed at my Mom's Friday night and then we headed to Amy and Tyler's on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day!! We spent time in downtown Waxhaw, grilled steaks, and watched UNC in the final 4. It was such a good time, and it was our last night as a family of two :-)

We arrived at the breeder's house at 11:30 on Sunday and we got our girl!!! Anna and Faith followed us there so they got to meet her too. We had already decided on the name Luci, which is after our beloved honeymoon spot, St Lucia. When we left, we got to meet Marc and Mindy at a nearby park to visit and have lunch. It was the perfect way for Luci to get some energy out and we were so happy to see our friends.

We headed home around 1:30. It was about a 3.5 hour drive and Luci was a ROCKSTAR in the car!! She laid in my lap the whole way and she didn't get sick or make a peep. She even had to ride in the passenger seat of Andy's car on the last leg, since I had met him in Beckley on Friday, and she just laid there and slept.

Andy had youth group once we got home so I spent the night getting Luci acclimated to her new home. She promptly pooped in the floor as soon as she stepped in the house ;-) And so began potty training!

We are already so in love with our sweet girl. She is just a baby, so we have a lot to learn and a lot of work ahead to train her.

Welcome home, Luci girl!

What's Up Wednesday

Hey y'all! I'm linking up with Shay for March's edition of What's Up Wednesday.

I always want to participate, but it seems like it will turn into an extra long post, so I don't have time to finish it :-) Let's get started!

What I'm Eating

I meal plan every time we shop. I just simply cannot go to the store without a plan and a list! So what's on the menu for this week is:

Chicken Pot Pie
from Taste of Home

Breakfast for Dinner

We have started to eat out every Wednesday because of church

We'll be traveling Friday, so we'll most likely eat dinner on the road.

What I'm Reminiscing About

Travel. And the beach. And tropical places. I'm in serious need of some sand, waves, and sunshine!

What I'm Loving

I'm really loving my bible study right now. We are going through the book of Acts and Warren Wiersbe's "Be" book, "Be Daring." It focuses on being bold and daring in your witness for Christ. This is also the theme for our church this year. I'm hoping and praying I can really live this out this year.

Also... babies!! Between two of my closest friends here, there are 3 babies under 8 months old. I'm loving all the sweet snuggles I get when I see my friends :-)

What We've Been Up To

March has been another pretty slow month for us. We celebrated Eric's birthday in Craigsville the first weekend of March.

We finally got some snow! A whopping 3 inches ;-) It gave me two snow days though which was a blessing!!

Andy has been on a few adventurous trips with the youth group: skiing and caving! He's also made a few extra trips home to his parents. We've fit in a couple date nights too though!

I'm also thankful for the time we've gotten to spend with our friends this month :-)

What I'm Dreading

I'm dreading finding a doctor. I still don't have a PCP here in Lewisburg. I just dread everything about the doctor so calling around sounds awful to me. Thanks to insurance and a summer physical, I need to get on it though.

What I'm Working On

The past couple weeks I've been doing some research related to something that might be happening this weekend!! I can't wait to share more if it works out :-)

What I'm Excited About

Well, I'm excited about what we're doing this weekend!! But I'm also SUPER pumped about SPRING BREAK! Goodness gracious, it is late this year. I'm counting down the days and we've got 2 more weeks. I'm getting to go to one of my favorite places with my Nana and Papa :-)

What I'm Watching/Reading

I haven't done much reading lately besides the Bible and my bible study book. I have been on a Dance Moms kick though. #guiltypleasure I don't usually watch it live, but I just finished going back and watching most of season 6 and season 7.

What I'm Wearing

It's finally sandals season!! I've also been wearing a lot of sweaters with short sleeves for chilly mornings and warm afternoons. I'm not fashion forward enough to take pictures of myself in the clothes I wear to work ;-)

What I'm Doing This Weekend

I've mentioned that we're doing something extra exciting and we're also spending time with some of our closest friends!!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

Did I mention Spring Break??!? I'm also looking forward to spending Easter with my family and my birthday :-)

Not much else is new around here! I may be back next week to share some exciting news... we'll see!

Winter Highlights {Jan & Feb}

This winter has slipped right by us. It has been so incredibly mild that it's been quite exhausting Haha We have had a total of ONE snow day so far. This means sickness has been awful and honestly, the kids need a break from one another Haha Unlike schools that don't deal with snow, we have NO scheduled days off from MLK day until Easter (which is April 16th this year!). Anyways… all that to say, we've been laying low and taking it easy :)

Here are a few highlights from January and February:

Snowshoe

Amy and Tyler came to visit in January and we spent the day at Snowshoe. We always enjoy time with them!!

Snowflakes

We haven't had many real snowflakes, but it was a sweet surprise when one of my kiddos ran up to me in the hallway saying she made this for me :-)

Sewing table

It took a LOT of work, but Andy finished my sewing table!! I can't wait to get back into sewing.

App State bound

I'd say the most exciting highlight so far this winter is that Anna made the decision to go to App next year!!! I'm so proud of her for working hard and getting into some great colleges. I'm also a little biased, but I think she picked an amazing school :-)

Valentine's Day

We had a low-key Valentine's Day which was exactly what we both wanted. I arrived home to some packages on our stoop! Andy brought home Panera for dinner. We love going out to eat so we celebrated that Saturday with dinner at The Livery Tavern. I just love him so much and I don't mind that we have a holiday to emphasize it :-)

Becky's "Sprinkle"

I was so excited to host a sprinkle for my friend Becky and her baby girl, Abby. She already has a little boy so our bible study decided to surprise her with a little sprinkle! It was so much fun. I love these friends.

Charlotte

We wrapped up February with a trip home to Charlotte! We hadn't seen my family since Christmas so it was great to see everyone :-) Of course, the only pictures I took were when we got Duck donuts on Saturday. They were so. delicious.!!

Whew! That was a long post. There were many weekends that we didn't do much at all, but two months crammed into a post seems like a lot :-)

Cheers to March!
