CRUiSE: St. Kitts & Antigua

Our next few stops were very relaxing :-)

St. Kitts

We stopped in St. Kitts on Monday. The island has had active volcanos before so we were thinking that some of the beaches may have black sand. We were surprised to see that the beach we picked was black sand!

The beach was called "Shipwreck" and there was some neat snorkeling right off shore. There was also a beachfront bar that was so neat. It was like something out of a movie. There were monkeys and mongoose running around and a relaxing environment over all. Andy and I tried conch fritters and they were so tasty!

Another thing that was cool about St. Kitts is there is a small sliver of the island that you drive over to get to this beach. When driving down a mountain towards that sliver of land, you can see the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other. For some reason we don't have any pictures, but it was a neat sight :-)

After many relaxing hours on the beach, we headed back to the ship.

Antigua

We stopped in Antigua on Tuesday. It was such a fun day & I think they won the most beautiful beach on this trip :-)

We went to Valley Church Beach and the colorful buildings next to the white sand and blue water was just gorgeous!

The day we stopped in Antigua happened to be the last day of their Carnival celebration. Our cab driver had to drop us off a few blocks away from the dock because of so many roads that were closed off. It was blazing hot but it was fun to see all of the locals out for a HUGE parade celebration. They were dressed nicely too. Walking through "Carnival" on our way back to the ship was a fun way to end the afternoon.

I just couldn't stand the cuteness of these little girls.

CRUiSE: Puerto Rico & St. Maarten

I'm back to post about our first two stops on Adventure of the Seas :-)

Puerto Rico

So Puerto Rico wasn't a stop on the cruise, but it is where we embarked! It felt like we were on vacation once we stepped off the plane. We stayed at a hotel right across the street from the beach on Friday night.

We were ready for lunch once we got to the hotel so, after trying to ask many people who didn't speak English, we were directed towards a little cafe/bar place. We all had cuban sandwiches, except my Dad. He got mofongo. It was quite interesting (think: mashed up & cooked bananas) but apparently it's popular down there.

Shortly after lunch, we headed out to the beach. We laughed that we traveled all the way to Puerto Rico to go to Carolina Beach :)

Our day in Puerto Rico ended by eating at a restaurant on the beach called Alambique. It was delicious!

We woke up early on Saturday morning to head to the ship!

St. Maarten

We stopped in St. Maarten on Sunday. Our plan was to visit the "airport beach" (Maho) and go to a french bakery!

The drive to Maho Beach was beautiful and our cab driver, Leo, stopped at all the best photo ops ;-)

This beach really is insane. The planes land RIGHT by the beach & they fly so closely overhead. Some small planes flew in first and they got bigger and bigger.

We were actually in the water when the biggest plane flew over.
& just because it's hilarious... :-)

Not too long after noon, a storm rolled it and it POURED down raining. We found shelter under the bar and then once it passed, we headed to the french bakery!

It was a tasty way to end our day in St. Maarten :-)

CRUiSE: Around the Ship

Well, I'm back from being under a rock in the blog world! When we returned from our cruise, I hit the ground running back at work. Right now as I'm sitting in my cozy house, waiting on my bestie to arrive , I got an itch to blog! I can't possibly close out our summer fun without recapping our Southeastern Caribbean cruise with Dad, Kendall, Tommy, & Mallory!!

I thought I'd split the posts up by pictures from around the ship and then our Port of Calls in a separate post :-)

So here's a look at our adventures from around the ship, Adventure of the Seas!

Sail Away

It was so fun to sail away at night and watch from the helipad!

Sunday Night

Our first night at dinner (since we skipped night one for sail away) was formal night!

Monday Night

We went to the comedy show. It was… interesting!

Tuesday Night

The return of my ice-cream butterfly! On our last cruise, our waiter brought me, what he referred to as "an ice-cream butterfly" every night! It had to make an appearance. Though our waiter this time called it a roller coaster ;-)

After dinner we headed to the poolside dance party :-)

Wednesday Night

We sailed away from St. Lucia on Wednesday night. It was SO fun to see the Sandals resort we stayed at, almost exactly a year ago, on our honeymoon. We watched it until it was out of sight :-)

It was also QUEST night!!! Quest is always a good time & this night didn't disappoint.

Mallory & Tommy were our team captains!

Thursday Night

It was our second formal night. We were having too much fun to take many pictures, obviously. Haha

Friday Night

On our last night, we celebrated Kendall's birthday and mine & Andy's anniversary :-)

You had to be there :-)

Hira & Inega!! Hira killed it on the last night by bringing us NINE crab cakes (because Tommy suggested that 10 was too many). They definitely took care of us. :-)

So I didn't realize that I didn't take any pictures on the ship during the day on the cruise (except in St. Lucia- more on that later). I think it was because we only had one day at sea! Nonetheless, Adventure of the Seas provided an awesome time- day and night :-)
